Aisthesis (pronounced like “eyes they sees”) means
perception from the senses - feeling seeing hearing, etc. -
as well as the intellect, and the combination of which
results in moral discernment on ethical matters
Lydia Underwood is the founder and principal designer of Aisthesis Studio, an interior design practice rooted in the belief that beauty should extend beyond the surface to the people and process behind the products.
Aisthesis Studio is an ethical alternative to traditional interiors, where longevity is valued over trend and discernment over excess. Lydia’s designs reinterpret historic elements within contemporary contexts, pairing preloved designer pieces with thoughtfully sourced modern elements to craft luxurious interiors that feel intimate, timeless, and quietly expressive. Aisthesis Studio serves clients who value beauty with integrity - spaces that feel good inside and out.
Holding degrees in both Interior Architecture and Harp Performance, Lydia brings a disciplined, compositional approach to interiors—balancing proportion, materiality, and atmosphere with intention. Her work is informed by early exposure to architecture, a love of details, and over ten years of experience designing hospitality and residential projects. Lydia honed her ability to translate brand, place, and narrative into cohesive interiors during her tenure at LYNE, LLC by contributing to refined, experience-driven environments including Parke West in Nashville, Dream Hotel Nashville, and Westhaven Residents Club in Franklin.
Lydia Underwood is a Registered Interior Designer in the state of Tennessee (No. 1323)
Like many creative people Lydia has additional artistic outlets. She still regularly enjoys playing the harp as she finds it therapeutic, stress-relieving and emotive - find out more here. And in her free time, you will often find her working with her hands to make something new out of something old - find out more here.
